Overview

Buy and Sell Crypto

Buy and sell 16 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Doge and Shiba. You may buy cryptocurrency directly, or trade CFDs.

When you buy cryptocurrency, you own the coins. You may hold them on eToro's platform, stake them to generate passive income or send them to any address on the blockchain through eToro's crypto wallet.

When you buy or sell a Contract for Difference (CFD), you don't actually own the coins. A CFD is a financial instrument that replicates a cryptocurrency's price. It allows you to use leverage or even short a coin if you expect its price will fall.

The type of position you can open on eToro's platform depends on i) your trade's direction ("Buy" or "Sell"), ii) your use of leverage, iii) the eToro entity with which you opened an account and, in some cases, iv) your country. CFD trades are clearly labelled as such, on eToro's platform. Please visit eToro's website to open a free account and see which rule applies to you.

Trading Platform

eToro's social features differentiate it from the competition. Easily connect with other investors, follow and even copy their trades automatically with CopyTraderâ„¢. Review their track record before you decide to allocate all or part of your portfolio to their trades. The minimum amount to invest in a trader is $200.

Alternatively, you can invest passively through one of eToro's CopyPortfolios. These portfolios, created and managed by eToro's investment team are similar to ETFs, in that they have a thematic angle. You'll find CopyPortfolios with a focus on Bitcoin, altcoins and decentralised finance (DeFi). CopyPortfolios incur no management fees. However, the underlying financial transactions initiated by a CopyPortfolio incur eToro's spreads. The minimum amount to invest in a CopyPortfolio is $5,000.

Staking

Generate passive income, in the same way that you can earn interest on your savings, by staking cryptocurrency. eToro can stake your coins and pay you between 70% and 90% of the yield they generate. The percentage varies depending on your service level. At present, you can stake Cardano, Tron and Ethereum 2.0. In the case of Ethereum, you will find the list of countries where staking is available on eToro's website.

Wallet

Once you've bought cryptocurrency, you can transfer it to eToro Money, its crypto wallet designed for iOS and Android. Send your coins to anyone on the blockchain or easily convert them into other cryptoassets. eToro's wallet supports over 120 coins and is regulated by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC).
